Abstract

This article examines the national ideology that Juana Paula Manso develops in Los misterios del Plata. Episodios de la época de Rosas, escritos en 1846. The analysis focuses on highlighting the exceptionality of the approach that this writer develops in proposing a national project for Argentina that seeks to overcome the division between Gaucho-peasant communities and the Letrado-urban communities. To this end, two aspects are studied: the type of agency that the authoritative voice grants to a group of gaucho characters in the formation of the nation, and the reproaches that the narrative voice directs to the liberal-letrado community because they failed to propose a pedagogical-affective policy that would make possible the integration of the Argentine people into the ideal nation that they imagined.
