Alex Galarza, Michigan State University

Alex Galarza is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History at Michigan State University whose research examines soccer clubs and urban life in Buenos Aires during the 20th century. His dissertation is titled "Dreams of Sports City: Soccer, Consumption, and Urban Transformation in 20th Century Buenos Aires" and it examines how Boca Juniors' attempt to build a stadium and sports complex illuminates broader political, economic, and social transformations in the city. He produced a documentary on this research with journalists in Argentina. He is also the co-founder of footballscholars.org, an online platform for discussing and developing fútbol scholarship.
