Ron Briggs, Barnard College

Ron Briggs (Ph.D. New York University) joined the faculty of Barnard College in 2008, having taught at New York University and Bard College. His teaching and research interests include the era of independence, the intellectual history of the Americas, and 19th-century Latin American literature.He is the author of Tropes of Enlightenment in the Age of Bolívar: Simon Rodrí­guez and the American Essay at Revolution (Vanderbilt UP, 2010), and has articles published or forthcoming in Studies in Travel Writing, Dieciocho, Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies and Decimonónica.
