Abstract

Colmenares’s two major novels, Grimorio (Altamirano Prize) and Acequia (Las Yubartas Prize), position writing as a perennial source of power, without ignoring contemporary issues surrounding the Internet or violence in Mexico. Colmenares develops a compelling narrative, brimming with intricate plots, as well as a sustained interest in magic. He now works as the director of a school that offers a degree in audio and music production. He is completing a manuscript about a personal experience with a ghost, entitled XIII (Offering).

Interview with Amaury Colmenares, at his home in Cuernavaca, June 28, 2025.
