Sarah C. Chambers es profesora asociada de historia en la Universidad de Minnesota.  Aparte de artículos y capítulos en libros sobre el género, el derecho, y la política durante la época colonial y la época temprana del republicanismo, ha publicado From Subjects to Citizens: Honor, Gender, and Politics in Arequipa, Peru, 1780-1854 (Penn State, 1999) y ha co-editado Honor, Status, and Law in Modern Latin America (Duke, 2005) y Latin American Independence: An Anthology of Sources (Hackett, 2010). Actualmente termina un libro sobre la familia y la política en Chile de 1790 a 1850.
