Formas de vida y exterioridades de la lengua. Sobre Vivir afuera de Rodolfo Fogwill
Abstract
Vivir afuera by Rodolfo Fogwill was published at the imminent end of the 20th century. This novel took up his novelistic project to the extreme. In it, Fogwill develops an alternative narrative line to the Argentine canon, leaving behind the hyper-literary rhetoric and designing a writing linked to the externalization of the language towards the territory. Vivir afuera composed the fresco of a turn-of-the-century society traversed by economic asymmetries that stressing democratic life led just a few years later to the fracture of the political system and the devices of neoliberalism. The novel supports a narrative of voices, postponing the relevance of action, puts on stage the stark materiality of language, the power relations encrypted in its memory and the sensitivity of common experiences.
